This book features the Pentland Skerries Lighthouse on the Muckle Skerry and its occupation in some detail, for 200 years. The ancient history of this island with its early inhabitants leaving a legacy of green mounds or Picts houses is explained. The ferry boats with their dedicated crews which served the lighthouse over the years are also featured. There is a section on the major shipping disasters and a definitive list of all the ships/vessels which have foundered in the treacherous sea conditions surrounding the Skerries.
