Competition is dogged and fierce but the contest also develops a bond between the competitors, a camaraderie that lasts a lifetime. The Junior Inter County gets into the blood and, as years pass, opposing grand parents stand side by side cheering on their respective grand children.
In United Through Sport Jockie Wood accurately records the history of the competition in a chatty, relaxed style; not only focussing on the highs and lows of the sporting battle, but the trials and tribulations of the organisers, trying to control teenagers who have suddenly tasted "freedom" away from home and the watchful eyes of their parents!
