Westray couple fined

A Westray resident who admitted puncturing the tyres of a car as revenge for a “prank” was fined £900 at Kirkwall Sheriff Court today.

Polish national Daniel Kwiecien, of Fealy Ha, appeared from custody, and admitted committing the offence yesterday.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to having a knife in his possession, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority, on the Rapness to Pierowall Road. Kwiecien also admitted puncturing the two front tyres of a car at the same location.

Co-accused Jodie Marie Sumner, 23, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting Kwiecien and was fined £200.

Defending both, David Edgar said that Kwiecien had reacted “angrily” to a “prank” that was pulled on a friend.
