Uppie James Linklater claims the Christmas Ba’

After a fairly explosive Christmas Men’s Ba’, Uppie James Linklater was held aloft the winner at 7pm on Boxing Day.

James, 39, who lives in Tankerness, summed up the six-hour game and the win as: “It is everything and more.”

He said it had been an open game, with control passing back and fore between the Uppies and Doonies.

“It has been a fantastic game.”

James, who has been playing in the Ba’ since he was five, was emotional after a hard-fought game, which took players and spectators on a mini tour of Kirkwall, ending up along Pickaquoy Road at one point.
