Two people in hospital following car crash

Two people are being treated in Kirkwall’s Balfour Hospital following a road crash on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened just before Finstown, on the Kirkwall to Stromness road around 4.30pm and involved two vehicles.

According to Kirkwall Sergeant David Hall he said he understood that the road was closed for a time as two people had to be cut free by the Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service.

The casualties are said to be in a stable condition, he added.

Police inquiries are continuing.
