Two face drink driving charges at Kirkwall Sheriff Court

A Finstown woman has pleaded guilty to driving while more than twice over the legal alcohol limit at Kirkwall Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.

Appearing from custody, Amy Thomson, 26, of Lynwood, Maitland Place, Finstown, admitted the charge which took place on Shore Street and Cromwell Road, in Kirkwall, on Sunday. She also pleaded guilty to causing or permitting another driver to use a car without insurance.

Thomson was disqualified from driving meantime by Honorary Sheriff Tim Wright.

Also appearing from custody was Damien Sutherland, 24, of 16 Quoybanks Crescent, Kirkwall. He faced charges of using a car without insurance, driving with excess alcohol in Kirkwall and failing to give police information in relation to the identity of a  driver of a vehicle. His case was continued without plea and he was released on bail.

The cases will call again at the court on June 22.
