Three groups benefit from OIC funding

Three Orkney organisations look set to benefit from the latest round of OIC community development funding.

The Orkney Sailing Club has been awarded £95,000 towards the cost of building a training centre adjacent to the Hatston slipway.  The Gable End Theatre will receive £23,439 towards upgrading their premises, and the Orkney Fossil and Vintage Centre, in Burray, has successfully applied for £64,495 for the proposed development of new exhibition areas, including a new ‘building of the barriers’ exhibit, as well as an upgrade of their existing facilities.

OIC councillors unanimously approved all three applications, which will meet 50 per cent of the total project costs, at this afternoon’s meeting of the community development fund sub-committee.
