On the road — the Monumental Midnight walkers set off from the Stromness pierhead.

Orkney’s second Monumental Midnight Walk has been hailed a great success, with a guaranteed £30,000 raised for the CLAN 123 project.

On Saturday night, 311 walkers set off from the Stromness pierhead and continued on a five, 14 or 23 mile route.

The last walker arrived back at the pier just before 7am on Sunday morning.

Talking on Monday, event organiser and CLAN coordinator for Orkney, Karen Scott, said a total of £24,065.65 had been banked, with another £6,500 still to be received from sponsors.

However, the total raised is likely to exceed this still, as many sponsor forms are still to be handed in.

Participants are reminded that all forms and monies must be handed into CLAN Orkney at 30 Victoria Street, Kirkwall, by June 30.
