Tall Ship party in Stromness

Orkney is being visited by two Polish tall ships today.

The sail training vessel Pogoria,  with 50 sail trainees and crew onboard, has arrived in Stromness after completing a voyage from Dublin.

At 7pm tonight, Wednesday, there will be a ceremony onboard to celebrate her trainees first journey on the open seas. Members of the public are invited both onboard the ship, and to view this event alongside the pier. Stromness RBL Pipe band will also be in attendance.

The Pogoria was a very popular member of the cruise in company part of the Tall Ships Races in 2011, when she celebrated her arrival in Stromness for the first time with a series of onboard parties.

The other Polish vessel to visit Orkney is the  sail training vessel Fryderyk Chopin which is berthed at Kirkwall Pier.
