Stromness and Sanday seal Parish Cup progress

Reigning The Orcadian Parish Cup champions Stromness booked their spot in the second round after edging past Westray on away goals this afternoon.

Michael Fawcett and Nicky Watson scored for either side at the Market Green as the match ended 1-1, 3-3 on aggregate.

The away side ended the match with nine men following Edgar Thomson and Billy Brown’s dismissals, while Stromness’s Greig Kirkpatrick was also given his marching orders as tempers flared towards the end.

While one North Isles side exited the competition, another progressed, with Sanday easing past South Ronaldsay 4-1 on aggregate.

A 1-0 second-leg victory this afternoon in the Hup was enough for Sanday, who ended the match with ten men after Daniel Nicol was dismissed for two bookable offences.
