Stromness Academy equipment fundraiser launched

Stromness Academy Parent Council have launched a fundraiser with the aim of purchasing new equipment for the school playground.

In the last year the school have reverted to a unified dinner break which means that the Courtyard in the Academy grounds is, after a number of years, back in action for the young people.  However, it has become quickly apparent that the facilities are severely lacking in suitable seating and activities.

After consultation with the pupils, the parent council are looking to raise funds for a roofed seating area that could double as an outdoor classrooms, benches and, if funds allow, fitness equipment and games. They have already had a successful bag packing session at Tesco, Leviathan International are donating a bench, and now they are selling their prize draw tickets to further raise funds. This sees a number of experience-type prizes up for grabs, including a spot on Radio Orkney’s Musical Milestones programme, a ferry trip south, a wine festival tour, and much more.

The prize draw closes on Friday, March 30. To find out more, you can contact Kirstie Moar by emailing email themoarfamily@yahoo.com
