Specialist police teams called in as search for missing man enters fourth day

Specialist teams and dogs from Police Scotland are expected in Orkney today as the search for a missing Papa Westray man enters its fourth day.

Sergei Ivanov, 55,  was last seen on April 3, at around 10am, near his home at Tredwell.

He was reported missing on April 9.

Local police, coastguard and lifeboat crews have been searching for Mr Ivanov since Monday.

Yesterday, Inspector Keith Bendall said he was confident that Mr Ivanov had not left Papay by conventional means and appealed for residents to remain vigilant.

Mr Ivanov is described as being 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, and with long grey hair.

When last seen he was wearing a black jumper, black trousers, a long black coat and black work-type boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
