Shows will provide platform for recycling talks

Orkney’s biggest agricultural shows will provide a face-to-face opportunity to discuss how best to develop an alternate weekly waste collection service — for all homes across the county.

The waste team from Orkney Islands Council will be on hand at the Dounby and County Shows to talk about the plans, which will mean black-bag refuse picked up one week and items for recycling the next.

The aim is to increase recycling levels while making cost savings for the council.
