We’re on the shortlist — Highlands and Islands Media Awards finalists revealed

The Orcadian has been shortlisted in the Newspaper of the Year category, for this year’s prestigious Highlands and Islands Media Awards.

Chief reporter, Craig Taylor is also in the running for the Reporter of the Year — Jim Love Memorial Award, and for Sports Reporter of the Year prizes.

BBC Radio Orkney/BBC Radio Shetland have a joint entry shortlisted for the Sports Reporter of the Year award, while Orkney freelance writer, Dave Flanagan is shortlisted for the Best Use of Digital Media Award.

The Orcadian’s editor, Leah Seator said: “It is a real privilege for us to be shortlisted among the top publications and journalists in the Highlands and Islands, and is fantastic encouragement for us all.
“We will be keeping our fingers crossed!”

The winners will be announced at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards, to be held on Friday, February 2, at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness.
