The true extent of Scotland's rich heritage of religious revivals has never been adequately realised. Following on from his pioneering study, Glory In The Glen, which detailed a surprising sequence of revival activity across the nation from 1880 to 1940, Land of Many Revivals takes a broader historical sweep, documenting a comprehensive chronology of Scottish awakenings from the revolutionary events of the Protestant Reformation right up to the early Victorian era of peace and prosperity.
Within this 330 year time-span few decades passed without the occurrence of repeated instances of wonderfully varied, highly colourful and deeply inspiring spiritual awakening. As a consequence, few towns, villages or country parishes were left untouched by their multifarious influence. Such legacy is virtually unparalleled anywhere in the world - Scotland is, in a unique sense, a Land of Many Revivals.
