It’s Shapinsay Show day!

Overall first in the Sheep section at the show last year was this pure Texel ewe owned and handled by John Leslie, Odinstone.

The Shapinsay Show kicks off at 10am this morning, with all the best livestock and produce from the island on display.

There will also be plenty of food, agricultural trade stands and charitable stands at the show’s traditional showpark, next to the island’s school.

The show opens at 10am, with the majority of livestock judging commencing at 11am, and the dogs and pets sections being judged at 1.30pm. The island’s Horticultural Show, held in the school itself, opens at 1pm.

The ferry to the island will be carrying out the usual runs, with an additional run at lunchtime from Kirkwall and an evening return run at 7pm.

For more details a full list of ferry times see page two of the shows preview contained in last week’s edition of The Orcadian.
