Science Festival begins today

The 2012 International Orkney Science Festival begins today, Thursday.

The packed programme of events begins at Noon with a buffet-lecture at the St Magnus Centre in Kirkwall.

The festival will be opened by Jane Goodall later today, in a talk at the Pickaquoy Centre, which will be followed by a film about her work over more than 50 years with the chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania.

Tickets for the various events are now on sale at the tourist offices in Kirkwall and Stromness and online from the festival website www.oisf.org
