Saoirse Ronan set to star in adaptation of Orkney bestseller

Award-winning Orkney memoir The Outrun is to receive the big screen treatment, and an Oscar nominee is set to star.

The news that Saoirse Ronan – of Little Women and Mary Queen of Scots fame – was confirmed by the film’s production company this Monday evening.

The memoir, penned by Orcadian author Amy Liptrot, became a bestseller after hitting shelves in 2015.

Amy is set to help adapt her memoir into a screenplay, produced by Sarah Brocklehurst Productions.
