Road works planned for Kirkwall

Temporary traffic lights will be in place in Kirkwall next week at the mini roundabout where Pickaquoy Road joins Junction Road.

This is so work can be done on the water supply to the new flats development near the roundabout.

The work is due to begin this Wednesday, with the traffic lights expected to be in place until Sunday, April 15.

The pedestrian crossing on Junction Road, at the Scout Hall carpark will also be closed during this time, as will a section of footpath along Junction Road from Frazer’s Close to the Gunn’s Close carpark.

Orkney Islands Council is asking pedestrians and drivers to pay special attention to road and footpath signs and take their time when passing through these areas while the works are underway.
