Road accident victims named

Police have named the two women who died in a road accident outside Kirkwall on Sunday night.

They were Ann Stanger, aged 64 and Moira Towers, aged 65,  both from Stromness.

The third casualty is confirmed to be a 25-year-old man, who is in hospital receiving treatment for serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

Inquiries remain ongoing and an investigation is being carried out by road policing officers.

A section of the main Kirkwall to Stromness road at Sunnybank was closed most of Monday, but was reopened by Tuesday morning.
