Recycling centres to close at weekends
The OIC recycling centres at Bossack and Cursiter will now close at weekends to help the council meet its savings targets.
At this week’s meeting of the transport and infrastructure committee, members agreed to the closures which will come into effect on October 15.
It is estimated that once the full changes to the opening hours of all of the recycling centres are implemented OIC will save in the region of ÂŁ60,000 per year, while enabling at least two recycling centres in the mainland and linked isles to remain open every day of the week.
A review of the new arrangements will take place after six months.
