RAF centenary commemorated at Kirkwall Airport

A plaque marking 100 years of the Royal Air Force and commemorating the role of Kirkwall Airport (formerly known as RAF Grimsetter) in British aviation history has been unveiled today.

Scotland’s air officer, Air Vice-Marshall Ross Paterson, had the honour of presenting the plaque, made by Mick Unsworth, at the airport this Saturday evening.
