Postal-only voting consultation reminder
Orkney Islands Council is reminding people living in Orkney’s North and South Isles that the consultation on proposals to conduct future elections without polling stations closes on Monday, October 31.
Full details of the consultation and a survey are available on the OIC website and the wider public are also invited to contribute their opinions.
The idea to carry out elections on the North and South Isles using postal and proxy votes has been prompted by the increasing popularity of postal voting, as well as the council’s need to make savings under Tough Times-Tough Choices.
Results will be reported to a future meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee.
