Police warning about latest telephone scam

Kirkwall police are warning people to be aware of another telephone scam currently on the go.

People have received calls advising them to attend at shop premises in Kirkwall to purchase a small amount of vouchers, in return for a large cash amount.

PC Angela Campbell said: “This is not the case and not a scheme offered by any shop premises within Kirkwall.

“People should be reminded that it is important not to pass personal details, including bank details, to a party should they not be 100 per cent sure they are fully aware of the identity of the caller.”
