Police issue scam phone call warning

Police in Kirkwall are warning against scam phone calls after a number of reports from residents in Orkney.

Police say that cold calls from what appear to be legitimate companies are being received by people in the area. The callers go on to ask people to send money to them in the form of an iTunes gift card.

As well as making people aware of the scam, police are reminding people in the area never to give out their personal details to cold callers.

Anyone with concerns that they may be the target of a scam phone call should get in touch with the police on the 101 phone number.
