Police appeal after charity boxes broken into

Police in Orkney have been appealing for witnesses after two RSPB charity boxes were broken into and the money inside them was taken

According to police the boxes, at RSPB Birsay Moor and Loons, which are both in Orkney’s West Mainland, are thought to have been broken into between June 22 and yesterday, July 4.

Police have said these charity boxes are managed by the RSPB who rely heavily on the donations of money for the running of the hides for people to enjoy.

Anyone with information regarding the damage or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area is requested to contact Kirkwall Police Station on 101 or crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
