Pickles praised after Killie end Brora cup fairytale

Both the Pickles brothers, John (left) and James played for Brora Rangers against Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

Brora Rangers manager Ross Tokely lavished praise on John Pickles after the Highland League side exited the Scottish Cup.

On a memorable day for the club, Brora, who sit seventh in the Highland League, and were playing in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history, faced Kilmarnock, with the Scottish Premiership side showing their class in a 4-0 victory.

And it was right-back Pickles, whose brother James came on as a second-half substitute, who came in for praise after their fairytale journey was ended.

Tokely, who was speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, said: “I thought John Pickles had an excellent game. He got an early booking but he was up against a very good player in Jordan Jones. He did well against him.”
