Passengers stuck onboard Hamnavoe until tomorrow

The latest update from passengers onboard the Hamnavoe is that the NorthLink vessel will shelter in Scapa Flow overnight and attempt to berth tomorrow morning.

She left Scrabster at 10.05am and was due in at Stromness at 12.05pm — behind schedule — but experienced difficulties berthing despite assistance from the OIC tug Harald.

The Hamnavoe then headed into the Flow to wait for an opportunity to berth if the weather subsided.

However, that does not look imminent meaning a marathon ordeal for those onboard what is usually a one-and-a-half hour crossing.
