Orkney youngster to enjoy day to remember at Murrayfield

Kirkwall rugby player Scott Craigie will take his place at Murrayfield this afternoon, as he is a mascot at the historic Calcutta Cup match.

A young rugby player is set to have a day to remember as he prepares to meet some of rugby’s biggest stars.

Scott Craigie, 11, from Kirkwall, will come up close and personal with some of the biggest names in world rugby, as he will be a mascot at today’s Six Nations match between Scotland and England.

With the Scottish Rugby Union asking for mascots from Orkney, Scott, who is in his last year of mini rugby, had the luck of the draw as his name was picked out of the hat, meaning the Glaitness Primary School pupil will now run out on the hallowed Murrayfield turf with the Scotland team as they attempt to end a decade-long winless run against England.
