Orkney welcomes northern neighbours

Orkney will host leaders from across the Faroes, Iceland and Greenland when representatives from NORA – Nordic Atlantic Corporation – visit the county on Thursday and Friday as part of a “fact finding” mission across Scotland.

While in Orkney, the council’s economic development team will lead delegates on visits to EMEC and the Billia Croo wave test site, and to the Centre for Nordic Studies.

Convener of Orkney Islands Council, Councillor Stephen Hagan, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome representatives from our northern neighbours, and to showcase to them how we, as remote island communities like themselves, are harnessing our natural resources and our community spirit to put Orkney in the spotlight in the heritage, tourism and renewables sectors.”
