Orkney to Inverness air link is first victim of cuts to ADS – McArthur

Loganair’s decision to cut the number of flights from Kirkwall to Inverness this winter and next summer is a direct result of Government cuts to the Air Discount Scheme, according to Orkney MSP Liam McArthur.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the airline announced it had been forced to reduce the number of flights because of a dramatic fall in the number of passengers using the service.

Mr McArthur said: “Bad though this news is, it is hardly unexpected. It is perhaps the first clear sign of the threat the decision by SNP ministers to cut the Air Discount Scheme poses to our lifeline air services.”
