Orkney RFC thrash students to win double-header

Orkney RFC thrashed Aberdeen University 62-19 in a double-header at Pickaquoy this afternoon, securing a winning bonus point in the league and booking a place in the next round of the regional shield.

Playing into a strong breeze in the first half Orkney’s front row led the way with tries from Scott Rendall, Kevin Sinclair and Erland Drever (2), taking the home side into the interval 24-12 in front.

In the second half, with the wind at their backs, the flood gates opened as Drever secured his hat-trick, Rendall scored a second, and backs Al Watson, Jon Tait, Chris Guthrie and William Thomson got on the scoresheet to complete the rout.
