Orkney RFC claim vital victory

Scott Rendall forces the ball over the line for Orkney’s first try of the day against Haddington.

Two tries from Alex Kansour put Orkney RFC on their way to claiming a vital victory this afternoon against Haddington.

It was a fully deserved victory for the home side, winning 31-16, to move above the East Lothian side at the bottom of BT National League Division 3.

Orkney started slowly with two Haddington penalties putting the visitors 0-6 up in the early stages.

Orkney hit back however, dominating the remainder of the match.

Scott Rendall forced the ball over for his side’s first try of the match and Danny Bain added a penalty, leaving the half-time score at 8-6.

In the second-half, Bain added another three penalties, while Kansour went over twice for converted tries for a 31-16 victory.
