Orkney records 63 cases of COVID-19

A total of 63 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Orkney over the past 24 hours, according to data published by the Scottish Government.

This brings the county’s case total since the pandemic began to 1,472.

On Saturday, there were 64 cases over the past 24 hours, and on Sunday there were 3.

NHS Orkney has reminded the community that PCR testing is available over the festive period.

If you require a PCR test, you can simply drive to the COVID Testing Centre in Kirkwall. No appointment needed. If necessary (i.e., you don’t/can’t drive), you can phone 0300 303 9545 for further assistance. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, or receive a positive lateral flow result, you must immediately self-isolate with your household and seek a PCR test.

If you receive a positive PCR result, you and everyone in your household must self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of whether some members have a negative lateral flow or PCR. Some exemptions may apply for health and social care workers.

If you have symptoms but test negative for COVID on both lateral flow and PCR, you are asked to remain cautious. Continue taking daily lateral flows, and limit your social contacts for as long as your symptoms last. All members of your household should continue to complete regular lateral flow tests as well.
