Orkney FC title aspirations dealt a massive blow as three see red

It was a grey, wet and miserable day at the office for Orkney FC as their North Caledonian League title aspirations were dealt a massive blow, losing 1-0 away to Halkirk.

Darren Malcolm got the only goal of the game five minutes into the second half, a goal which leaves Orkney six points behind Invergordon, with three matches remaining.

Invergordon have two league matches remaining, meaning Orkney are now relying on the leaders dropping points.

It was a poor match throughout, played in horrendous conditions, with Orkney struggling the Halkirk rain.

In a miserable day all round, they ended the match with nine men. Substitute Steven Edwards saw red for an off-the-ball incident, before goalkeeper Cameron McConnachie and Kyle Henderson both saw red minutes from the end following a poor Henderson challenge on the ‘keeper.
