Orkney FC hit six to move top

Thorfinn Stout took his tally for 16 for the season with two strikes against Bunillidh Thistle.

Orkney Football Club moved to the top of the North Caledonian League after hitting the goal trail once more, thumping bottom-club Bunillidh Thistle 6-0.

With Golspie and Thurso in North Caledonian Cup action, Orkney moved to the league’s summit, taking their goal tally to 54 after ten games in another comfortable three points.

Captain Owen Rendall opened the scoring, before Thorfinn Stout grabbed the first of two goals to extend Orkney’s lead.

Bunillidh conceded an own goal, before Chris Simpson and Aiden Drever put the islanders five up before the break. Stout struck in the second half to seal the 6-0 win.

While there is no doubt Orkney will be pleased with the three points, sterner tests await.

Orkney face Invergordon next Saturday in a clash of the top two, after Invergordon overcame Halkirk 3-1.
