Orcadian lands top police job

Orcadian Chief Inspector Les Donaldson was officially appointed the island’s new area commander today, Tuesday.

He replaces outgoing Chief Inspector Mhairi Grant, who has been transferred back to police headquarters in Inverness to take on a project role.

Ch Insp Donaldson, 45, said: “I moved back to Kirkwall two years ago as Inspector and I am delighted to have been promoted to area commander of Orkney, especially as this is my home and I know the Northern Isles well, not just from a policing perspective, having served in Shetland as well, but having grown up as an islander myself.”
