Oil ship move begins in Scapa Flow

The operation will which see the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Petrojarl Banff leave Scapa Flow got underway today.

The anchor handlers Maersk Tracer and Maersk Tackler are involved in the operation. The Petrojarl Banff will be towed to a shipyard in Germany for refit work.

The vessel was previously stationed in the North Sea around 120 miles east of Aberdeen.

During heavy storms in December, the vessel drifted approximately 250 yards off location. The ship has been anchored in the Flow since then.
