OIC planning committee approve six turbines

Another six wind turbines have been approved by the Orkney Islands Council planning committee.

The small-scale domestic turbines, which range from 5kW to 20kW and range in height from 15m to 22m, will be sited in South Ronaldsay, St Ola, Longhope and Eday, with two in Holm.

At a meeting this morning, the committee considered objections to each proposal, but after hearing from OIC planning officers that the applications met current council guidelines, members approved all six.
