The Centre for Nordic Studies was officially opened on Friday afternoon, by Norway’s Ambassador to the Court of St James’s.

His Excellency Mr Kim Traavik unveiled the plaque at the Kiln Corner centre in Kirkwall, in the presence of guests, the centre’s director, Dr Donna Heddle, Orkney College UHI principal, Dr Bill Ross and the conveners of Orkney and Shetland Islands Councils.

He said: “I can’t think of a better place to establish a Centre for Nordic Studies and I have been very much impressed by what you have said, what I have seen and what I have read.”
