‘Northern Lights’ in the cathedral

A special concert, featuring the best of Orcadian and Norwegian talent, takes place in St Magnus Cathedral tomorrow, Sunday.

The Nord Lys — “Northern Lights” — concert will include a selection of pieces and recitals from The Mayfield Singers; Broken Strings; Singers from Hordaland Taus; Catriona Ward and Heather Woodbridge on Hardanger Fiddle; guitar soloist Helge Spilling; Jean Crichton with a reading on behalf of the Orkney Norway Friendship Association; the St Magnus Cathedral Choir; Maggie and James Nicolson; Hesnes Brothers; Emily Bourne and Jack Kirkpatrick; and Ivan Drever.

There will be a Moment of Reflection, led by Mr Øystein Djupedal, Fylkesmannen in Aust-Agder, to remember the tragedy earlier this year in Norway, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the strong bonds of friendship between the two communities.

The concert begins at 6pm on Sunday, December 4.
