Court appearance for man accused of stealing and crashing taxi

The case of a 33-year-old man, charged with a string of offences, has been continued without plea at its first calling.

Barry James Reeve, of 16 Bosquoy Road, Kirkwall, appeared from custody at Kirkwall Sheriff Court this afternoon.

On Friday, Reeve allegedly took and drove away a car, on Junction Road, Kirkwall, without consent from the owner. He is also alleged to have driven without  insurance and while unfit through drink or drugs.

Reeve is also charged with driving dangerously.

Finally, at Kirkwall Police Station, he allegedly failed to tell police who the driver of the car had been, failed to co-operate with a breath test and failed to provide two breath specimens for analysis.

The case next calls on July 13. Reeve was bailed in the meantime.
