New chairman for monitoring and audit committee

Councillor Sam Harcus has been elected chairman of the OIC’s monitoring audit committee at a special meeting of the full council this afternoon.

The meeting was called to find a replacement for the former chairman, Councillor Russ Madge, who resigned from the post in February following a row over expenses claimed by the council’s convener.

However, Councillor Madge was nominated for the position again today, but lost out to Councillor Harcus following an 11-6 vote.
