MBE for Orkney woman

Karen Tait MBE

An Orkney woman has been made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to farming.

Mrs Karen Tait, 37, from Birsay, has been company secretary to the Orkney Livestock Association since its launch in 2001, and also HI Health from 2005, which is Scotland’s largest cattle health scheme.

A keen horsewoman, she has been involved in the Orkney agricultural scene since leaving school and was, last year, given the honour of carrying the Kirkwall standard and leading the Riding of the Marches procession.
