Macmillan patient raises over £1k for hospital adventure project

A community fundraiser has taken in over £1,000 in aid of The Balfour’s hospital adventures project.

A Hoy woman has raised over £1,000 in aid of an innovative project which helps patients and their young families adjust to long-term treatment at The Balfour.

Val Crowson from Longhope was so taken with the care given to her from staff in the Macmillan Unit at The Balfour that she wanted to show her appreciation and gratitude.

With help from her family and friends Val started a fundraising campaign in support of The Balfour’s hospital adventures project. The main event was a splendid tea party and raffle in Carol and Mike Webster’s beautiful garden at North Ness.

From then on the donations kept coming in and a magnificent sum of £1,031 was finally raised for the scheme.
