The Orkney Archaeology Society (OAS) has secured funding to get young people in Orkney interested and involved in the study of prehistory.

The project, Conversations with Magic Stones, has received £7,300 from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Stories, Stones and Bones fund.

Welcoming the news, OAS’s Hayley Green said: “It’s great that we have been awarded this grant and we can’t wait to get started. We love where we live and know there’s so much more to discover about our past.

“We are all really excited about talking with other people about our findings and getting them involved, we really hope this fires up the imaginations and the interest of young Orcadians in their amazing heritage and history.”
