Loganair anticipates busy summer for Orkney air travel

Loganair aircraft at Kirkwall Airport.

With a busy summer for tourism expected in Orkney this year, Loganair is making a number of amendments to its service to accommodate where it anticipates seats to be in high demand.

The airline is increasing capacity between Kirkwall and Manchester with the introduction a larger 50-seat Saab 2000 aircraft during a longer summer season extending between May 24 and Sept 1.

Loganair is also closely monitoring demand on the Glasgow to Kirkwall route, which it also forecasts to be very busy, drawing up plans to implement an increased seat capacity should the need arise.

Passenger volumes to Kirkwall are likely to see a spike this year as visitors travel to mark the 100th anniversary of Scapa Flow as well as the extremely popular St Magnus Festival.
