A FUNDRAISING appeal, which it is hoped will raise £30,000 for essential maintenance and improvement work on the Longhope Lifeboat Museum building, which was launched just two weeks ago, incredibly has almost reached the half way stage to its target.

Longhope Lifeboat Museum Trust said that the total is now sitting at £14,715 including on and offline donations, with chairman Kevin Kirkpatrick once again thanking all companies and individuals who have been donating to the cause so far, saying that the highly generous support received has been very much appreciated.

Urgent repairs and improvements are required to be carried out at the building in the lead-up to events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Longhope Lifeboat disaster next March.

The appeal is set to run until the end of the year.

Donations forms have been published in The Orcadian over the last two weeks, with donations also accepted online at: www.gofundme.com/longhope-lifeboat-museum
