Kirkwall BID complete third lighting phase

Kirkwall BID has completed the third phase of its street lighting project. Previous phases saw lights wrapped round the trees outside St Magnus Cathedral.

The Kirkwall Business Improvement District (BID) has recently completed installation of the third phase of their winter lights project.

This third phase incorporates Junction Road, where many of the street lights have been adorned with pole wrap lights.

David Campbell, Chair of the BID board, said: ‘We’re delighted to extend our Winter Lights to Junction Road, as a main road through the BID area, we wanted to expand this enhancement project for all the businesses in this area.

“We believe it is vital to keep the town centre looking attractive for locals and visitors alike. We hope that during the darker months these will add a sparkle to the town.”

Previous phases include the tree wrap lights on the trees outside the St Magnus Cathedral, and also the canopy lights at Bridge Street, Laing Street and Victoria Street.

Mr Campbell added: “Our AGM takes place on May, and we urge all members to come along, we’ve got some great guest speakers, and we’d love to get input from our members on our future projects too.”
