KDDL Orkney make history in Shetland

KDDL Orkney celebrate after winning an eighth consecutive title against Shetland.

Kirkwall’s darts players made history last night as they sealed an eighth inter-county title-in-a-row, and afterwards, dedicated the win to Jim Scollie and Jimmy Miller.

KDDL Orkney overcame a Shetland side determined to halt the Orcadians run of wins at seven, a record the Shetlanders set in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In an absorbing night in the Lerwick Legion, it was the pairing of Simon Parry and Brian Moar who secured the crucial win, ending the contest at 11-8.

Orkney were 8-7 ahead after the four-a-sides and singles, and two doubles victories put the Orcadians on the brink of the title.

Following the win, captain of the side, Craig Taylor, dedicated the win to KDDL legends Scollie, affectionately known as Tattie Bogle, and Miller, who both passed away during the 2017/18 season.

On Thursday, Lerwick Ladies beat the Kirkwall Ladies.
